Rare American Revolution Period English Infantry Hanger Sword with Historic Inscription. A very special example of American Rev War English hanger carried by an infantry man, in its brass furniture featuring a historical inscription on the inside of the heart-shaped guard, stating the date and place this weapon was taken by an American lieutenant E. Oswald as a trophy at the battle of Fort Ticonderoga on 10th of May, 1775. Original bare wooden grip and brass-mounted leather scabbard. Mounted with a broad large-fullered blade with a false-edge tip. Nice patina throughout on this fascinating historic example.Overall length 28 1/2". Blade length 22 1/2"
