Circa 1830s – 1850s English California Style Etched Bowie Knife Dirk by J. Lingard Sheffield. With a nice double-edged etched on one side "Never Draw Me Without Reason, Nor Sheath Me Without Honour" surrounded by floral scrolls. Ricasso struck with makers name. In its German silver mounts with black lacquered grip inlaid with abalone shell sections. Original gold embossed leather scabbard in two pieces. Overall length: 8 1/4". Blade length: 4 1/2"
