A rare and massive example for an American Cavalry officer around the Civil War era or earlier, with an exceptionally thick and powerful blade, profusely etched with intricate designs and very distinctive decorations, typical to the Sauerbier swords Only, having a maker’s logo to ricasso with wonderful image of a horseback cavalry soldier with a trumpet. In its heavy brass mounts with engraved foliage decorations and leather covered grip bound by thin brass wire, all fully intact and solid. In its steel scabbard with ornate brass mounts.
