Rare crested helmet pommel Civil War Peterson’s Militia Staff Officer Type Sword. Circa 1840-1860s. silvered grip, chain guard. Etched Ames address on blade with floral, military and patriotic motifs. 1834 style blade. Ames address stamped on reverse throat of brass scabbard. CONDITION: Excellent. Fine, delicate crosshatching to silvered grip with minor wear to edges showing toned brass. Vivid etching, slight greying to blade. Excellent grips with pleasing patina. Nice patina to silver grip. Five pointed star in wreath on crossguard. Minor stains to gold washed brass scabbard. Very slight play to helmet pommel.
