Rare crested helmet pommel Civil War Peterson’s Militia Staff Officer Type Sword. Circa 1840-1860s. Openwork floral cast quillons with shield languettes. Chain guard. Silvered grip. Bright etching to blade with arms, floral scrolls, American eagle, etc. Scattered small grey spotting toward tip with light stains. No maker or dealer mark visible. CONDITION: Excellent. Slight wear to edges of grips showing brass. Bright gilt to hilt. Mix of gilt and toned brass to scabbard. Scabbard has engraved floral motifs with eagle perched on US shield with thunderbolt arrows beneath.
