eagle pommel American sword circa 1840. Brass wire bound grip with flat knuckleguard cast with floral designs. Shield shaped languettes with tails of arrows on obverse and arrow points on reverse. Blue blade panels with flamboyant ends. Small floral and martial motifs drypoint etched and gold washed. CONDITION: Good. Guard has slight looseness. Quillon with slight bend downward. Blade is smooth metal, but grey above the blue panels with some darker grey spots. Brass scabbard matches patina of hilt. Floral engraving at each ring and for 8" above button drag. Throat stud missing. Total length – 35", Blade Length: 30 – 1/2"
