Lot 293:
Japanese type 99 hand grenade, 3 1/2" x 1 1/2" dia., an improved version of the standard Type 97, modified to resolve issues with the fuse mechanism, and intended to be compatible with the Type 100 grenade launcher. Unlike the Type 97, the body of the grenade is smooth, and the firing pin is integral to the fuse. This example has been deactivated, but the fuse, striker mechanism and safety pin are all present. Shows expected oxidation and wear overall, otherwise very good.
