WWI. Russian brass commemorative cup, hand-engraved, depicting Emperor Nicholas II and descriptionof Taking over Erzurum on February 3, 1916. A very unusual and scarce WWI military memento.Moderate wear. Historical note: Erzurum – a city and fortress in north-eastern Turkey. Had a major Armenian population.(Armenian name meaning city of Karin). The city was the location of one of the key battles in the Caucasus Campaign of World War I between the armies of the Ottoman and Russian Empires. This resulted in the capture of Erzurum by Russian forces under the command of Grand Duke Nicholas and N.N. Yudenich on February 3 (16), 1916. 4" high, 3" diameter.
