Very fine antique oil on canvas glued on board painting " Interior view of Hagia, Sophia Istanbul" by listed artist Wladimir Konstanivoch Petroff ( 1880-1935).Between 1912-1914, Vladimir Petroff studied at the Tiflis (Georgia, Caucasus) Art College, where his teacher was N. V. Sklifasovski. His studies were interrupted by the war, in which he participated: at first, in Tsarist (fighting against Germany) and, later, in White armies (fighting against the Bolsheviks). After the defeat of the White Army in the Civil War, he immigrated to Turkey in 1920. There, he was initially interned in an English Refugee Camp in Tuzla (now Bosnia-Herzegovina), then settled in Constantinople (Istanbul), where he established himself as a known architectural and decorative painter.
