Rare 19th C. Russian Caucasian Shashka Sword by OSMAN in Niello Silver Mounts. Fine example by one of the most thought after Caucasian makers Osman, having lovely niello silver mounts and solid silver hilt of traditional form. Wearing a broad lightly curved blade with two shallow spinal fullers to each side, lower blade having etched panels with a Czar Nicholas II cipher among floral scrolls, ricasso with etched Osman Weapons Factory designation, also deeply struck with the Osman trade mark. In its leather bound wood scabbard still retaining its original belt with niello silver mounts en suite.Sword is 36", blade is 29 1/2".
