Very Good 18th-19th C. Islamic Ottoman Turkish SHAMSHIR Sword with Wootz Damascus Blade. A truly attractive and unusual early example, having gold gilt brass furniture with an elaborate Ebony grip of traditional Ottoman style. Mounted with a deeply curved single edged blade of very active Wootz steel, one side of the blade with a chiseled and partially worn gold inlaid cartouche of the maker. In its leather bound wood scabbard with engraved and gold gild brass mounts en suite to the hilt. Sword is 36", blade is 30".
