Very Fine 18th C. Indian or Persian SHAMSHIR Sword with Enamel Silver Hilt and Wootz Blade. An outstanding example of the early Indo-Persian royalty’s Battle-sword, with its solid silver hilt of traditional form, having a lovely rams-head pommel and profusely decorated with carved details inlaid with multi colored enamel, mostly intact. Mounted with a deeply curved single edged blade of fine Wootz steel, front side with chiseled and partially worn gold inlaid maker’s cartouche. A magnificent weapon for the higher ranking warrior of Noble Status.Sword is 36 1/2", blade is 33 3/4".
