Rare 15th-16th C. German Landsnecht KATZBALGER Sword. Very good and honest example of early Renaissance era used by most skilled and fearsome German Landsnecht warriors, capable of defeating the Persian or any other army being outnumbered 20 to 1. a strong and definitely battled with example of traditional form having iron hilt mounts with an iron grip and large Infinity shaped guard, having chiseled details. Mounted with a broad double edged blade of an oval cross-section, showing battle-marks and very nice pitting throughout. Sword is 30 1/2", blade is 25 1/2".
