Exceptional Quality 18th C. Indian KATAR Dagger with Wootz Damascus Blade. A very fine example with a vicious diamond-section armor piercing blade of superb Wootz steel, lower blade with a gold inlaid cartouche to either side. Large iron hilt chiseled with decorations and profusely gold damascened. Housed in its fantastic quality silver scabbard showing intense chased motives and traces of once gold gilt finish. A superb weapon for a royal or at least noble Mughal warrior.Katar is 21 3/4", blade is 13 1/2".
