THANK YOU ~ ! ~~~~~ Magnificent GIANT Japanese Temple Sword with Samurai O-DACHI Shinto Blade ~ 42 1/2" Nagasa ~ WOW !!! ~~~ This is a truly Spectacular and Screaming example of the Japanese Weaponry Art, measuring Whooping 6-feet 10-inches in overall length, it wears a powerful 17th-18th century Shinto era Samurai Odachi battle-sword blade with 42 1/2" Nagasa, this blade after several centuries of service was retired and built in to the Temple sword mounts in the mid to late 1800s era. Blade is Huge, mumei slightly reduced and was even longer when used as an anti-cavalry weapon by specially trained Samurai warriors. In its Massive mounts featuring fine lacquer job to the scabbard and having gilt brass mounts profusely engraved with floral vines, original tide fabric wrap is still present. With its Giant carved wood Tsuba having charcoal blackened finish with four windows each inset with a carved Mother of Pearl flower. Blade with several imperfections to its surface, nothing too deep, and still showing good wide Hamon tamper line along the edge. Very long tang with 3 mekugi-ana, indicative of the extensive service of this early weapon. Stingray skin grip with engraved brass mounts en suite, the huge fuchi comes off to reveal grip’s wood base with extensive Japanese inscriptions on both sides, most likely an attribution to the Temple this Giant sword was built for. Unbelievable piece overall, extremely rare and would probably take a lifetime to find another one of such Colossal dimensions. The sword is truly Breath-taking due to its size and would surely make a centerpiece for any advanced collection of rare and early Samurai weapons and warfare attributes. Total length in scabbard is 82" Blade is 42 1/2" measured down the spine from Habaki notch to the tip. Tsuba is 5 3/4" x 5 3/8" Tsuka is 21 5/8" long and 2 1/8" thick. ~ PLEASE NOTE, IT WILL BE SHIPPED DISASSEMBLED AND PACKED INSIDE A HARD PLASTIC SKI-CASE.
