Very Rare early-16th C. Italian or Spanish Transitional Knight’s Broad Sword ~ Rapier. A very early example of rare transitional pattern, still showing characteristics of the Medieval Knightly sword, with its broad double edged blade having distinctive Medieval type copper inlaid markings, and having iron hilt mounts exhibiting early additions to its guard configuration, showing one of the earliest transition stages towards the Swept-hilt rapier pattern. In overall a semi-excavated condition with wooden grip lacking, however, showing strong structure and remaining in a very presentable state of preservation for such an early and rare weapon.
