Rare French post Napoleonic Second Empire "Guarde Nationale" Officers Sword. A scarce example circa 1830, in its gold gilt hilt mounts with a finely checkered ebony grip inset with a stone or shell Cameo depicting Roman soldier. Mounted with a lightly curved large-fullered blade retaining most of its blued panels with regimental inscriptions among floral scrolls. Beautiful and rare example of the National Guard officer’s weapon. Total length (inside scabbard if present) : 32" Blade length : 26 1/4"
