Unique French Napoleonic era Anglo-Indian English Officer’s Damascus Sword. Very unusual saber in its gold gilt furniture showing strong eastern influence in its Indian shamshir style grip and having intricate carved decorations of the early Napoleonic era type. Blade is slender and shows lovely patterns of fine European Damascus steel, in its original leather scabbard with unique brass mounts, the lower mounts of extreme length and has a steel drag. Rare and unusual example, most likely made by Indian armorers as a special order for an officer of the colonizing British Army. Overall length: 33 1/2". Blade length: 29".
