Good 18th-19th C. Islamic Indian Persian SHAMSHIR Sword ~ WOOTZ Blade & Mounts. Good early example of elegant form, nevertheless very quick and deadly at combat. Wearing a deeply curved blade of fine actively patterned Wootz Damascus steel. The cross guard and scabbard mounts are of fine Wootz steel en suite to the blade and well decorated ornate leather cover, tip lacking. Horn grips in need of light restoration, otherwise a very nice and exceptionally well balance saber of Mughal warriors. Total length : 34" Blade length : 29"
