Excellent quality, very unusual Filipino Sanduko sword. Typical blade is inscribed bearing date 1901 and inscription as it was presented to . Surgeon Major Richard S. Griswold, killed at Balangica, Island of Samar, September 28th, 1901. Very finely made scabbard with silver mounted Masonic Symbolic. There is also an inscription right under scabbards leather cover end part . Excellent sword all around. Total Length (inside scabbard) : 24" Blade Length : 18 3/4"Name Richard S Griswold is found in The Journal of the American Medical Association, record for 1901.
