An exceptionally attractive Civil War period example in if fire gilt brass mounts showing high quality chiseled detailing and with an ornate solid silver grip, both sides of the knuckle-bow adorned with small but clean Ruby stones. Mounted with a beautiful double fullered blade of high quality German manufacture, showing deeply etched floral work, war trophies and Patriotic motives, retaining most of its original gold wash finish. Lower blade bearing an etched retailer’s logo of "Horstmann & Sons, Philadelphia". Housed in its blued steel scabbard having elaborate fire gilt brass mounts en suite to the hilt.
