Unusual 17th-18th C. English or German Horsemans Rapier Broad Sword. With a large steel half-basket guard having steel wire grip and large thumb ring on the back. Mounted with a strong and sturdy double edged blade of oval cross-section, both sides having struck Running Wolf marking for the early German manufacturers, next to it is the 1744 marking, which may present the date it was made, however more likely is the number consistent with the Biblical passage which should carry special spiritual meaning to the swords owner, the Wolf markings clearly state that the blade was made in the earlier era of 16th-17th century.
