THANK YOU ~ ! ~~~~~~ Fascinating 18th C. American Revolution Rapier Sword Owned and Attributed in Civil War to "1st Lieut. James Foley, 1865". Most likely a family relic sword inherited from the grandfather of Mr. James Foley and carried by him during his Civil War service, later enhanced with attribution inscription at the end of the Civil War. Brass hilt of very seldom encountered configuration, retaining much of its original gold gilt finish, double edged blade with engraved decorations. Rare Identified example which took part in both American Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Total Length (inside scabbard if present) : 37" Blade Length : 30 1/4".
