Unique 19th C. French Silver Mounted Yatagan Sword, for Colonial Tribal Chief. A very interesting and possibly one of a kind example of French manufacture probably made in presentation to one of their Eastern colonies officials. In heavy solid silver mounts having engraved and relief decorations. Mounted with a recurved Yatagan-shape blade of military type retaining most of its original mirrored polish with patches of light patina. Solid and intact overall with moderate wear consistent with the age. Very handsome and probably unique Islamic weapon. Total length (inside scabbard if present) : 26", Blade length : 19 3/4".
