Scarce 1650s English Cromwellian Civil War MORTUARY Broad Sword by "Andrea Ferrara". With its large steel or iron basket-guard chased with intricate details to the exterior, the grip is bound by a well preserved and finely braided copper wire. Mounted with a powerful broad double edged blade with two fullers on both sides, each struck with the name of the most famous 17th century Spanish makers clan "Andrea Ferrara". Sword is 41 1/4", blade is 34 3/4".
