Lot 35:
Latin America, Mexico, ca. 19th century CE. An antique Mexican retablo depicting the Holy Trinity, beautifully painted in vibrant jewel tone hues to enhance the majesty of the subject. God the Father sits at the center, dressed in white with a sun image on his chest, holding a golden scepter in his left hand, and invoking a blessing with his right. Seated at His left hand is the Son, dressed in blue and identified by the lamb emblazoned on his chest, holding his hands outward as if to draw mankind to himself. Seated on the opposite side is the Holy Spirit, clothed in red to indicate baptism by fire, with a dove on his chest. All three have brilliant halos of light radiating from their heads. Framed in gold leaf frame.Frame is 21,5" x 17,5", image is 14" x 10".
