Nasha pravda. Beites’ dosmerti (Dmitry Pozharsky) – We Are Right. Fight Till the End! (Dmitry Pozharsky)], Russian WWII poster by Viktor Ivanov (1909-1968, Meritorious Art Worker of the Russian Federation). Published by Iskusstvo, Moscow-Leningrad, 1942. 88.5 x 59 cm. 35 5/8 x 23 1/4 in.Dmitry Pozharsky, a 17th century Russian military leader, commanded People’s Militia that in 1611 liberated Moscow from the occupying Polish Expeditionary Force. This poster comes from the influential poster series produced by Ivanov, in part with the help of his wife Olga Burova, in late 1942 – early 1943. Its secondary caption, shared by all posters in the series, reads �Let the Brave Images of Our Great Ancestors Inspire Us in This Battle�, quotes a passage from the Stalin’s speech at the November 1941 military parade marking the 24th anniversary of the October Revolution. Viktor Ivanov started producing posters in 1931, while still a student at the Leningrad State Arts Academy. Before the war he pursued a film artist career, and even received an art director credit for the important film Lenin in 1918 (1939). With the start of WWII, Ivanov again turned to poster graphics.
