Smert’ nemtsam-dushegubam! [Death to the German Murderers], a poster by Dementii Shmarinov (1907-1999, People’s Artist of the Soviet Union). Iskusstvo, Moscow, 1944, 31 1/8" by 21 1/2". The poster was published in 1944, but its design dates back to 1943. Shmarinov’s wartime works earned the artist the Stalin Prize in Arts for 1943. Overall, he is remembered primarily as an outstanding book illustrator.
