The poster’s caption can be traced to a paragraph in the book Nauka pobezhdat’ [Science of Winning] by the great 18th century Russian military leader Alexandr Suvorov. The text in the upper right corner is a quote from the Stalin’s November 1941 speech: "Be inspired by the heroic images of our great ancestors." Viktor Semyonovich Ivanov (1909-1968) – Honored Artist of the RSFSR (since 1955), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (since 1958), Winner of State Prizes (1946, 1949). He graduated from the Moscow Art School "In Memory of 1905" (1929), the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1933), and the studio D.N. Kardovsky. In the pre-war years, he created about twenty political posters. The best works of the war years � " Multiply our glory "(1942), " To the West "(1943), " We drink the water of our native Dnieper, we will drink from the Prut, Neman and Bug! " (1943). Worked in easel graphics, illustrations, author of paintings. Among the numerous posters created by the artist, a special place is occupied by the series "V. I.".
