Chinese bronze/gold splash two-piece incense burner comprised of a mule with poet Du Fu atop his back. Mule is modeled standing and fitted with bridle and saddle. The rider is dressed in a robe and decorated hat, with raised right arm and pointed index finger, and holds a scroll. Du Fu was a Chinese poet and politician during the Tang dynasty. Along with his elder contemporary and friend Li Bai, he is frequently called the greatest of the Chinese poets. Unmarked. Size: 20 3/8" x 18 1/4".~ .
