Edo period Japanese Samurai TATAMI-DO Torso Armor Cuirass. Of black lacquered iron, uniform holes along the bottom of both front and back components. Hinged configuration front-to-back fastening. Frontal component bears 7 plate (ken) construction, rear component bears 9 plate (ken) construction. The back bearing an iron bracket for the Flag of the Clan, so this particular set of armor was worn in to battle by a Flag-Bearer, who was a specific designated warrior out of the regiment. Front is 14” in height by 14” wide. Rear is 14” wide by 16” in height.~~. Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
