Very fine antique Our Lady of Guadalupe hand painted wood carved statue. Outstanding Our Lady of Guadalupe is hand carved wood. Size: 12 1/4".Our Lady Of Guadalupe. In 1531, at Guadalupe, Mexico, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared five times to Juan Diego, a middle aged, Aztec convert to Catholicism who was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002. Upon revealing to a sceptical Bishop his tilma (cape), it was found to contain roses and a beautiful image of the Immaculate Conception – a woman with the sun and stars standing on a new moon with an angel at her feet.
