A Classic antique Chinese barber stool, rarely found in this excellent condition with original fittings and outstanding design. China, Gansu Province.This small stool was owned by a barber and carried to work suspended from a bamboo pole. The small drawers contained brushes, combs, razors and the other tools of his trade. He would carry the stool and stand on a pavement until a customer arrived. The customer sat on the stool, to have his hair cut, his pigtail oiled, or his face shaved.
