Antique c.1800’s medical field folding wood/metal embalming table cooling by NATIONAL CASKET Co.Antique Wood Embalming Tables (also called "cooling" tables) are highly sought after, especially the folding / traveling types. This specific piece was by National Casket Co, built in 1879, the company became the second largest coffin and undertaker supply manufacturer in the United States. The table completely folds down and locks into a manageable rectangle carrying case. One end of the table rises up in order to put wax, make-up etc. on the corpse. The original metal carry handle is present and sturdy. The solid oak design shows a beautiful grain and hand dovetailed sides. The surface area is a metal with small metal rivets.
