Stepanov at the Samara University (1917�1921); Dmitry Kardovsky�s Studio on Tverskaya (1921�1926), took lessons from Abram Arkhipov (1922). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1927). Member of the Union of Artists (1932). Taught at various art schools (1948�1957, 1959�1978). Contributed to the Storming of Perekop panorama (1935�1938). Full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1947). Professor (1948). People�s Artist of the USSR (1965). Winner of the Stalin Prize (1941, 1946, 1948, 1950, 1952). Silver medal from the Ministry of Culture of the USSR (1958).
