A bronze container for wine, bian hu, the flattened, oval-shaped body supported on a stepped foot of square section and surmounted by a round neck which terminates in a lipped mouth.
Size: 6 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 2 7/8".
Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD), China.
The bian hu with a flattened oblong body and loose ring handles. The bronze wine vessel set on a high rectangular splayed foot. The sloped shoulders supporting a wide cylindrical neck and mouth that flares slightly outwards.
Rare original lid.
