Edo period Japanese Samurai TATAMI-DO Torso Armor Cuirass. Of black lacquered iron, uniform holes along the bottom of both front and back components. Hinged configuration front-to-back fastening. Frontal component bears 7 plate (ken) construction, rear component bears 9 plate (ken) construction. The back bearing an iron bracket for the Flag of the Clan, so this particular set of armor was worn in to battle by a Flag-Bearer, who was a specific designated warrior out of the regiment. Front is 14” in height by 14” wide. Rear is 14” wide by 16” in height. Detailed condition reports are not included in this catalog.
