Impressive & Rare 16th-17th C. Transitional Swept-Hilt Rapier Broad Sword, Spanish, French or Italian. A massive example of Transitional pattern on its way from the early knightly broad sword to the later and lighter version of the 17th century rapiers, this one still wearing an exceptionally broad and powerful double edged blade having multiple fullers, each with struck name "ANNA" to both sides, lower blade with a struck Lilly maker’s mark to both sides of ricasso. With its large steel hilt mounts of distinctive pre-swept hilt pattern, fine steel wire bound grip topped with a massive Turk-head pommel. A very rare and exceptionally impressive weapon of Renaissance era warriors.Sword is 46,5", blade is 37,5".
