Antique watercolor " Costal Marine with Sailboats" by listed artist Thomas Bush Hardy (1842-1897) England, France, image size 20" x 8,5".Thomas Bush Hardy was born in Sheffield, England in 1842 to Thomas and Amelia Hardy, and was apprenticed in the optical trade to his maternal grandfather. In 1861, he had a falling out with his fiancee, and worked his way to America where he enlisted in the North American Federal Army. However, having been wounded in the Civil War, he returned to Sheffield and married his fiancee, Mary Ann Lovne. He was employed by the Sheffield Silver Assay Office, and by 1868 had three children. Around this time he took up watercolor painting. Provenance – Single collection of recently deceased James S Horigan who lived in England and owned gallery and later moved to Colorado.
